AF103 & AF106 Introduction

The new assignment set is called the 'Wonders of Nature'.

For this assignment the learning outcomes are:

  • Develop proposals for interactive digital media products based on visual, content and contextual research. 
  • Develop interactive digital media products that are suitable in content, technology and design. 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of interactive design principles and practice. 
  • Produce evidence of testing. 
  • Manage time and resources effectively through project planning

The brief

What I have to produce is a responsive website which will display on Desktop, Tablet and smartphone devices in which each one is different layout fitting the screen dimensions of those devices.

I also have to produce an iBook which uses the same content as the website.

I have been asked to produce material for a new series of publications called 'Wonders of Nature'. Which will be a education resource for A level  (L3) students in schools and colleges around the UK.


  • All content used must be factually correct
  • Content must be sourced (Blog) which then after I will make an Asset Register which lists all of my resources with the link to it
  • My aim is o being one category of the Wonders of Nature series to life using mixed media. My category should be interpreted in a wide range of ways. It could be an overview of the subject or a specific focus on an example of something in that subject.
  • It must be visually exciting and engaging
  • It must be imaginative in the use of interactivity

  • A robust and user-friendly navigation system. 
  • Content to include: text, images/illustrations, sounds and moving image. 
  • Animated navigational elements to accompany the content and enhance the user experience.
Website

  • A robust and user friendly navigation system using a ‘Responsive Navigation Design Pattern’ 
  • Content to include: text, images/illustrations, sounds and moving image. 
  • Animated navigational elements to accompany the content and enhance the user experience.
Blogs & Sketchbook

  • Plan your time and the different phases of the project with a detailed production schedule 
  • Find and analyse examples of eBooks which use media content 
  • Find and analyse examples of animated elements used as part of an interactive navigation structure. 
  • Find and analyse examples of ‘Responsive’ web design including examples of different Navigation Design Patterns currently used in industry 
  • Visual research, which contributes to devising the look and feel that is consistent to all of your finished output. 
  • Design the graphical style, interactivity and elements of visual language that will be consistent to all of your finished output. 
  • Undertake design and technology research into developing media rich content for the iPad and responsive websites. 
  • Produce an Asset Register, detailing and referencing the source of all text and graphic content of your products. 
  • You will produce evidence that the html and css for your website pass validation tests from W3C 
  • You will produce evidence that your website passes accessibility checks.
